The client’s company, A1 Gas and Electric Cooker Repairs, had been named to come first in the traditional directory listings, but had no online presence.

The client is a Gas-Safe registered engineer and an expert in repairing gas and electric cookers.

The brief

As more people were rejecting traditional directories in favour of online searches, the client had noticed he was getting fewer telephone enquiries.

He realised he needed to embrace the latest technology and commission his first website.

As the technology was new to him, he needed guidance on what to include, which I was happy to provide.

My approach

As the client had no online presence and his company wasn’t being searched for, I knew I had to think differently when it came to his SEO.

I came up with an alternative strategy, which focused on what people search for online when they need cooker repairs.

I asked the client for a list of the cooker problems he encounters most frequently, then started researching how those searches are phrased when people type them into Google.

The resulting list formed a series of questions, which we placed at the top of his home page.

The client has reported that the site is working well for him and has brought in plenty of new business.
